  I was so upset I honestly felt sick. It was bad enough we had a horrible experience while staying there and wasted most of the day waiting around for them but to receive such a rude e-mail after was downright shocking.

  Very nice and clean little cottage house. Kitchen and supplies provided. Owner was very welcoming.

  The note on the door said that policy had changed, that there would be no breakfast served. I believe they left english muffins or a loaf of bread for toast.

  So here it is, Aug 3 on Cape Breton island, and we have no place to stay. We spent the next two and a half hours trying to find a place, and they were either booked, or so awful that my husband and I would have preferred sleeping in the car.

  After doing some morning hiking, we showed up at the B&B around 2:45 in the afternoon. There was no one to be found. After waiting around for about 40 minutes totally confused as to what to do we decided to drive around for a little and come back during the suggested check in time (I believe it was 4-6). Again we waited and waited and saw no one. Eventually we just decided to go in and take the room we had already paid 170 dollars for.

  The place was really cozy , hot tub was great, we even had a game of pool in the games room . Anna is an angel . The pool was awesome . I missed the cinnamon rolls she offered . I forgot about that . and only remembered after we had left. Mad at myself. I would go back. again for sure. Hopefully next summer. Viola

  We arrived at this b&b, based on the emails, and there was a vacancy sign out front. There was anote on the door stating that the owners were not there, but that the keys were in the doors of the suites. My husband went to the suite downstairs we had booked and someone was in it. Checked the others, and found them also occupied. We have no idea if these were "squatters" or if the room had been booked twice. The property did look clean, but was not in a great spot.

  This experience put a huge damper on our trip and even thinking about it now makes me upset. There are many alternative B&Bs and motels in the area so I suggest looking elsewhere.

  If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We had the most horrendous experience staying here and I honestly don't want someone to have to go through the same thing.

  So, if you are able to surely book a room at Highland Breeze, it did look clean. The breakfast has been canceled. They have a poor business model, but a decent cleaning person. There is no view, which from some pics I saw online, I expected.

  Back in April, we booked a room here. The website was not really working, so I emailed and got a quick response. During the months leading up to our Auguat trip, I had several more emails, telling me my booking was intact. We tried numerous times to verify by phone and left messages, but never got a return call. Not once did anyone answer the phone.

  We saw a picture of the Keltic Lodge near Ingonish, and took a chance, since it looked huge. We did get a room. I would highly recommend this property, it is an old classic resort and reminded me of the Del Coronado hotel in San Diego. It was pricey, but beautiful. And no one was in our room.

  In the morning, there was no one around again (we had assumed that breakfast would be served in the house) so we decided to stop by the cafe that was mentioned on the sign in front of the house. We told them we had literally seen no one except other guests and we were a little upset with our experience. Their exact words "Oh somebody is going to be in trouble!". Who knew it would be us! A few hours later we get the most scathing e-mail from the owner telling us we weren't raised properly and we have no manners.
